What other game lets you run around in fancy clothes carry an assortment of clubs and more accessories than any other sport has. This is certainly no ordinary game of golf.
The clothing brings with it a certain air of dignity and elegance while the clubs let you stand out in sports with a bold and daring character. Other games may have rules and so does the game of golf, but what other game can tout etiquette like golf? Yes, those behaviors that you need to be careful of when you enter a golf course, make your way through the club and on to the course itself. By follow the mannerisms you can increase your chances for that perfect game.
If you can do it, a good way to start out is by getting to the course early so you have time to settle in. If you get there early you may be able to gain the services of a caddy. Caddies can be very valuable to your game since they can carry your clubs for you and also give you some important tips as you play the course. In many cases the tips they provide are things you did not know, did not notice or were ignoring. By helping you with your reads your caddy can be at your side helping you with your game.
Other reasons for arriving early include chances to talk with the other players so you can get familiar with your opponents. You get a chance to explore the scoring and lanes of the golf course. All these things get you more comfortable with where you are playing and who you are playing so when the game is on, so are you.
Perhaps one of the most important reasons for an early arrival is to get a proper warm up in prior to starting out. Fifteen to thirty minutes of exercise prior to starting will help you to feel more at ease and get your body ready for the game to come. If you’re feeling stiff when the game starts, your swings will not be comfortable or successful.
Remember to give the game your all, but don’t be offensive to your opponent. You certainly don’t want to leave a bad impression. You may just want to play your opponent again someday for a chance to even the score. Take care of any marks that you make and try not to leave prints. By planning ahead, playing for fun and encouraging others you can have an enjoyable time.
