We see offers on the internet all the time offering products or services for free only to find out they are not truly free when we get to the site. Are there really websites where you can do reverse look ups on cell phone numbers?
For those of you that do not know what is meant by a reverse phone number lookup let me explain. When you have a residential phone number and no idea for whom it belongs to you can do one of two things in order to find out. Either call the number and ask or complete a reverse lookup for the number.
This can be great when you want to make sure of whom you are phoning prior to making the call or if you have lost touch with someone whom you still have a phone number for. By finding one of the many places that offer the reverse lookup service you can find out the details for the residential, business or toll free number in question.
The problem is that when you want to use one of these services for a cell phone number you find that the free directories don’t list the cell phone numbers, fax numbers or unlisted numbers. The information for those numbers is held only by the telecom companies and carriers. But is there a place where it is freely accessible?
There is some good news, because there are accessible websites that can access the records which pertain to cell phones. The one small problem is they are not free.
The cell phone companies charge these websites for access to the records so those websites pass those charges on in turn. The one good thing about the charge is that usually it is a one-time fee that gives you unlimited access for lookups. The information included in the lookup will be the name, address, status and carrier. The bonus is that the access also includes unlisted and pager numbers.
Plus you get more. You can access background information and people finder databases with information on public records, births, deaths, marriages, bankruptcies, adoptions and police records just to name some.
By doing internet searches I have found some sites that say they offer free reverse cell phone searches only to find they lead to a paid service in the end. Sometimes they will even allow you to complete the search, but not see the results until you pay.
In the end you are better off going with the paid directory that presents itself honestly because the answer to the question is no. There is no free service for reverse cell phone lookups. If you are really in need of the information though the small fee is probably a good investment.
