Everyone knows that to lose weight, one of the most important things you can do is to boost your metabolism. What everyone does not know is what metabolism is, and how it works in your weight loss process. Metabolism is the term that is used for the process when your body converts calories your consume into energy. The process happens in all parts of your body, and is what results from what we call burning calories. If your body was a car’s engine, your metabolism would be how fast it is running. Your bodies “basal metabolism” is basically how many calories you burn on a daily basis in your normal activities. This contributes for about 65-75% of the calories you burn every day.
There are plenty of ways you can boost your metabolism and your weight loss. The more of these things you employ in your weight loss strategy, the fastrt your metabolism will work.
You should always be eating breakfast. When you do not eat, your metabolism goes into starvation mode, basically meaning it does not burn near as many calories as normal. You need to fuel your metabolism for it to burn and for you to burn calories and lose weight. If you are going to eat big meals, do so earlier in the day. If you are eating anything heavy have it for lunch and eat a light dinner, also try and eat dinner early in the evening.
Never try and eat less than 1200 calories a day. People often try and create a calorie deficit and end up sending there bodies into starvation mode. You need to support your basal metabolism to keep your body working and burning. Eat many small meals through out the day. This keeps your metabolism running and your body burning calories. Eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, do not allow yourself to get hungry.
Eat more complex carbs, and less fat. Complex carbs will actually boost your metabolism and hold fewer calories per serving than fats. Along with eating, you can also alter your exercise routine to boost your metabolism. Exercise in the morning to get your system going, and exercise on a daily basis. Keep your body active and burning calories, and you will lose weight. Weight training will also boost your metabolism, your body has to work hard to heal your muscles after a work out and will burn a lot of calories in that process. Also, look for situations in your daily life to be active, walk to lunch, take your pets for a walk, everything helps.
Avoiding alcohol does not help your metabolism per say, however when you do drink alcohol, it very much depresses your bodies metabolism, and increases your appetite, which will make you gain weight, not lose it. You should however drink plenty of water. Drink as much as possible throughout the day to keep your metabolism going. Adding a fat burning supplement can also boost your metabolism, but are not a quick fix and should be used with caution. Take them along with the other steps to really get your body going. When you boost your metabolism you feel better, and certainly will lose weight more quickly.
