Eligibility

Women with breasts of any size that are fully developed are eligible for this procedure. However, results have shown that a breast lift may not last as long on women with larger breast than women with smaller breast.

Risks

Unlike other cosmetic surgeries, bleeding and infection are not common complication with this procedure. However, the drawback to this procedure is that it leaves noticeable and permanent scars. In addition, uneven nipples and the loss of feeling in the nipples or breast may also occur.

Is the surgery painful?

The pain is considered minimum to moderate, but mostly moderate pain that can be controlled with oral medication.

How should I prepare for the surgery?

If you are smoker, you will be asked to refrain from smoking 2-3 weeks prior to your surgery. You will also be asked to eliminate the intake of aspirins. This surgery will not increase the risk of cancer. You should arrange to have someone to be with you during, before and after your surgery. You should also arrange to have someone care for you for the first 24 hours after the surgery. 

How will I initially look and feel?

The day after the surgery, you will be able to move around for small periods of time. After the first couple of days, you will be able to comfortably move around. Generally, the stitches will be removed 5-10 days after the surgery. The incision will be red or pink in color but they will gradually fade. However, this surgery will cause a slight scar that will gradually fade within 3-4 months but will not completely disappear. You may continue to have some discomfort. However, it will be a normal sensation throughout the healing process. 

When will I be able to continue my normal activities?

Frequently, it is possible for patients to return to work after 5 days depending on the job. Patients should avoid any sexual activity for at least one week. Most often, patients will be able to resume the vast majority of their normal activities, including a light workout after a couple of weeks. 

How long will the results of the surgery last?

Unless the patient weights fluctuate greatly or the patient becomes pregnant, the results of surgery will last for many years. However, aging and gravity will eventually affect the size and dimension of your breast. This process will vary among women. After this process, women may decide to have a second procedure to re-establish the contour of their breast.
