Organic SEO and Pay per Click advertising (PPC) are the two methods of marketing your website on the internet.  Both of these methods bring targeted visitors to your website. However, each method has its advantages and disadvantages which are discussed below:
 
      (1) Organic SEO.
 
Ø A technique by which a website is made to place high in the search engine rankings is known       as Search Engine Optimization or SEO.  Organic SEO has some advantages over PPC which are discussed below:
 
o   Studies have shown that people are less likely to click on paid search ads as compared to results from organic searches.  When somebody is searching for information, he is more likely to click on the first few results that come up from organic search than on the paid search ads.
o    The trust level for organic searches is generally higher than that of the paid search ads.  As a result, the conversion rate (the rate at which a visitor takes a desired action on a site) is much higher in the case of organic searches.
o    Though it may take some time to get the results of organic SEO, the results are long term.  In PPC you may get immediate results, but it ends when the campaign ends.
 
      (2) Pay per Click (PPC)
 
Ø Pay per Click advertising is the method by which you only pay for valid clicks on your ads. Although organic SEO has more advantages in the long term, PPC also has certain advantages.  If you are looking for fast results with a small budget, PPC will be more suitable for you.  The following are some of the advantages: 
 
o   With organic SEO, it may take up to three months to get the desired results. But with PPC, the results are immediate. This is suitable for those looking for immediate results or for those whose business is seasonal in nature.
o   A good SEO campaign may cost a lot with the effects being long lasting. You may have to employ an SEO expert or firm to get your desired results.  PPC may be done at a much lower cost on a short term basis.  It is also easier to handle a PPC campaign.
 
So we see that organic SEO is good in the long term and may produce better results.  However PPC has also its advantages and is useful for quick results.  So the best thing is to use both these methods to maximize the returns.
