Fish Boards for Cooking Will Create a Unique Taste
Date Added: May 01, 2008 02:05:04 AM

When you are preparing fish you can start cooking with wood to add more flavor to your fillets. By changing the different wood types that you use you will give a unique flavor and texture to your fish. Most all wood can be used in this process as long as the wood does not have any impurities and no pests in the wood. By this I mean you do not want to add treated wood scraps to your cooking area. This will give the fish a very bad taste and can make who ever eats the fillets sick.

When using this technique you need to soak the wood of your preferred taste for at least an hour in water. Make sure the board is completely waterlogged, if the wood is not soaked the wood will burn up and you will have no fish left. By soaking the board, while you are cooking the fish, steam will rise out of the waterlogged board cooking the fillets and giving the fish the flavor of the wood due to the steam.

The most popular type of wood used in this process is a cedar board. Giving a cedar board a good soak in water will add a great flavor to your fish while it cooks. Other great types of wood to use are maple, hickory, cherry wood and apple. These types of wood add a flavor as if you just smoked the fillets of fish in a smoker. Also by using a fish board, you can only use it once then you have to throw it out or burn it. Burning the board can add a nice little fire while you enjoy the fish you have just cooked. By using a fish board is a unique way to get the flavor and a different twist on your cooking experience. So next time you want to cook your fish fillets, try it out and you will get a great thrill when you taste your meal.
