Fresh Fish on the Grill
Date Added: May 01, 2008 02:07:08 AM

Grilling season is here to stay and what better way to celebrate this then cooking a freshly caught fish on your grill. Every one cooks hamburgers and hot dogs but cooking a fish fillet takes some skill and a lot of resistance from wanting to eat the fish right off the grill. Hamburgers and steaks are good for everyone but you can spice up your diet and eat a little bit healthier by cooking a fish and having enjoying that instead if eating a steak. Also grilling a fish fillet on the grill adds a great taste to the fillet that you will enjoy more and more once you try it.

When you are grilling a fish make sure you select a thicker cut of fillets so the fish does not burn or fall to pieces while you are cooking. The bigger fillet that you can get will provide you a little more time to cook other things to go along with your fish. Be sure you still check your fish because the fillets will cook quickly and will dry out if you do not watch them. You do not want the coals too cold or too hot. The fillets need to be dipped in a little bit of oil so they do not stick to the grate. Usually the fillets will be done in about seven minutes per side.

You can always tell when your fish is done because if you take a fork and rake along the fillet and it flakes off, the fish is done. Take the fillet off the grill because it will dry out really fast and will turn into a rock if you leave it on the grill. Fish also cools down fast so if you are cooking other things on the grill make sure you cook the fish last this way everything will be hot while you eat. No one wants to eat a cold supper. So when grilling fish, take your time and you will end up with the most juicy, flaky fish you have ever tasted.
