Have you ever seen a woman walking through a grocery store with 3 children hanging all over her, each screaming that they want one thing or another? She looks frazzled and tired doesn’t she? Then why does she do it? Why does she put so much time and effort into it?
That answer is easy. It’s because she is a mom.
Being a mom is the one job that a woman can have that gets the least respect and the most hassles but also reaps the greatest rewards. It is also the one job that she can’t just quit when she doesn’t like it anymore. Once you’re a mom, you’re always a mom. There is no turning back.
Mom’s are underappreciated and over-worked and rarely complain about it. Most mothers work outside jobs on top of everything else they have to do at home. It is incredibly difficult to balance both work and home but they manage to do it. And usually pretty well, I might add. Yet the families that they are working so hard for don’t even know how hard it is for her.
You may not realize it but the work that a mother does just inside the home would cost an average of over $130,000.00 per year if you had to hire someone to do everything that she does. And you are getting it for free. Besides the cooking, cleaning and laundry she is also the secretary that answers the phone and does your schedule, the facilities manager who takes care of the home and makes sure everything is running properly and she is the psychologist that finds time to listen to all of your problems at school and with your friends and always seems to have the right answer. This doesn’t even begin to touch the subject of the taxi driver that she is when she takes you everywhere you need to go and makes sure that you get there on time.
All of this she does without complaint and without a vacation. She does it because she is a mom and she loves her family. She wouldn’t change it for the world. She knows that she chose this life and despite the times when she feels run down and wishes she had just a little time for herself, that in the end all of her hard work will pay off. She will have raised good children who raise good children.
Moms know that being a mom is the most important job they will ever have and they need to do it well. They may scream and holler sometimes but they will be right back at it tomorrow.
So, next time you see that frazzled woman in the grocery store just smile and know that she’s a mom and that’s why she does what she does.
