How to Generate Traffic to Your Site Using Free Methods

If nobody visits your site then you won't be able to generate any income from it. Traffic is the lifeblood of your online business. There are various ways to drive traffic to your sites. Some of these require some investment, such as PPC (Pay per Click). There are other methods which are free. The following is a discussion about the various free methods:
(a) Link Exchange:
Exchanging links with other sites is a good way to increase your search engine rank and thereby driving traffic to your site. But you must remember the site with which you establish a link, must be relevant to your own site and preferably in the same niche. For example if you have a site on gardening and you establish a link with a casino site, you will be penalized by the search engines. You must always establish links with quality sites.
(b) Using proper keywords:
You should use proper keywords in your content. Using proper keywords and key phrases in your content helps to achieve a higher search engine rank.
(c) Article marketing:
Write short (300--400 words) articles about topics related to the content of your website and submit to various article directories. At the end of each article, there should be a ' Resource Box' or 'Bio Box' which should contain a short description about yourself with a link to your site. People visiting the article directories read your articles and if they like the articles they may visit your site through the link at the end. This helps to generate good quality targeted traffic to your sites.
(d) Build a list:
The money is in the list. Try to build an opt-in-list by capturing the e mails of the visitors to your site. In this way you can build a relationship with them and send them various offers in the future.
(e) Forum Marketing:
Make regular posts in various forums related to your niche. Your signature should contain a link to your site. People would visit your site through this link.
The methods mentioned above are all free techniques to bring quality targeted traffic to your sites. All these methods require hard work and it takes time for the results to show up.
