When you have been casually dating someone for awhile you may start to wonder if you are ready to make that jump and commit. There are several things that you should consider when you are wondering if you are ready to commit. You will want to spend a little time thinking about these things before you assume that you are ready to commit on the spur of the moment.
The first thing that you will need to know when you are figuring out if you are ready to commit is that you want to make sure to not mention committing to the relationship to the other person until you are sure that you are willing to do just that. Once you make an agreement to move forward and that you are ready to commit, you can not go back. Things will never be the same if you try to back pedal on the commitment that you originally agreed to.
The next thing that you will want to think about is if you really are ready to commit. Are you so into this other person that you are completely satisfied to date only them? Are you willing to share your life with them on a more personal level and let them be more involved in it? Are you ready to have to do those little things that come with a committed relationship? If the answers are yes, then you just may be ready to commit to that person and bring your relationship to that next level.
You will also want to have a good idea that the person you are dating is there too. You don't want to approach them with the attitude that you are ready to commit and you expect that they are too. You will want to communicate with them cautiously and ask them prompting questions that will help you to recognize that the two of you are in that same place. Just because the both of you may not be ready to commit right now doesn't mean that you won't both be on the same page as far as commitment in a few more months. So, even if the person you are dating doesn't seem to be as ready as you are to commit, just give it a little time and see if they begin to show signs that they are getting there. You don't want to push them, this can end badly.
