With the economy the way it is right now, no one can afford to quit their jobs. This may mean having to deal with a bad work environment.
You may just find that you have become bored with your job and would like a change. It may not be possible to get you out of the tedious job that you have but you may be able to find other things within the company that are more challenging and fun for you that will break the monotony. Look into things such as company newsletters that you might be able to contribute too. You might just find that you will begin to like your job again.
Sometimes the problem isn’t with you. You may love your job and what you do but a lousy boss or poor management that is causing you distress. Depending on the situation it may be in your best interest to address the problem directly by asking to be supervised by someone else. If you express you concerns and your interest in being even more productive in your job you may be able to cause a change. It may be that your boss doesn’t even realize what they are doing to cause problems and will be grateful for your input.
Your problems may revolve around a co-worker. In this case presenting it to a supervisor is your first priority. Bringing the problem to the attention of someone in authority may bring about the change you need. The best suggestion may be to document the problems with this co-worker. Keep a log of the things that they are doing that are inappropriate or unprofessional. Doing this will give you credibility when you do go to your supervisor and ask not to have to work with this person any more.
It may also be helpful to be able to tell your supervisor that you aren’t the only one who is having a problem with this person’s behavior. If there are others with the same problem no one can say you are just being over sensitive and they can not ignore you.
Most larger companies want to resolve any work place employee problems as quickly as possible. They realize that a happy employee is a productive employee. They are aware that employee discontent is one of the bigger causes of lost work days.
