Rhinoplasty FAQ

Is the surgery painful?

Rhinoplasty is not a painful procedure, but it is bothersome for the first 24 hours after the surgery because there are internal bandages to control the bleeding. Patients will experience nasal obstruction for the first 3-6 days caused by the inflammation of the internal tissues due to surgery.

How should I prepare for the surgery?

You should meet with your surgeon for a consultation and take some pre-operative photos before the surgery. You should do your best to be in good health and free of infections. Also, avoid taking any aspirins or any other over the counter medicine unless approved by your surgeon for at least 20 days before your surgery.

How will I initially look and feel?

The goal of this surgery is to offer results that are completely natural without any signs that you ever had cosmetic surgery. Although you will be able to notice the difference within six days, you will fully appreciate the results after six months when the inflammation is gone.

When will I be able to continue my normal activities?

Patients should avoid all physical activities that include strenuous exercise for at least 20 days. You should also avoid participating in sports such as: football, tennis, baseball or any other activities that can increase the risk of accidental injuries to the nose. In addition, you should avoid any exposure to the sun for at least 3 month (maybe more), especially if after surgery you have experienced bruises around your eyes.

How long will the results of the surgery last?

The results of plastic surgery are permanent with the exception of any possible changes related with the normal aging process.
