Secrets of Magic Tricks Revealed

We all understand that magic is an illusion and these illusions are very closely guarded by the magicians that craft them. When an illusion is revealed it goes from being magic to being deceptive and that is why magicians will only reveal their secrets in the course of teaching it to another magician. In many cases very secretive magicians took their secrets to their graves.
The simple fact is, and we all know it to be true, the more people that know the secret the more chances there are for disclosure. Sooner or later someone will give away all or part of a trick. Even part of a trick being revealed can be enough to determine the whole trick and ruin it for all time.
There are some illusions that are very difficult to perform when a person who is not in the know is called in to assist and bring credibility. Either the person needs to be brought in on the secret or the magician must elevate his craft to be able to perform the trick in a way that reveals nothing to the assistant causing the assistant to be sucked into the illusion with the rest of the crowd.
To increase his own credibility the magician will sometimes perform a trick and disclose how it was done right afterward. After disclosing the trick the magician will immediately perform the trick without using the method just disclosed to further amaze the crowd.
You can purchase special devices in magic shops that will aid in creating illusions, but using this special equipment somehow seems more like cheating. The tricks that are always most impressive are the ones that don’t rely on props or secret partners.
There is one trick where you ask another to roll a pair of dice and add the two numbers together then pick up the dice and add the bottom two numbers together. After adding the results together you then give a deck of cards to another and ask them to count down that number of cards and reveal the card in that position.
You can then give a pre-sealed envelope to the person assisting and inside the envelope will be the statement predicting the card just revealed. To the audience’s amazement, they will match.
This is a simple trick that is not too hard to accomplish. In preparation you will need to just pick a card and write that card on the piece of paper to be sealed in the envelope. Let’s say the two of spades. On the outside of the envelope write the word prediction. Then find the two of spades in the deck of cards and place that card in the fourteenth position of the deck and place the cards back in the pack.
The secret to the whole trick is that people do not realized the when you roll a die the numbers on the top and on the bottom always add up to seven. So do the trick with two dice and the number is 14 or do it with 3 die and the number is 21.
The trick just takes a little planning and you will have an easy illusion that can be done without equipment of special assistance. Of course the more you perform this trick for the same people they will come to realize that those top and bottom numbers add up to seven and the trick will be revealed.
