Symptoms and Diagnosis of Ectopic Pregnancy
Date Added: June 06, 2008 05:28:37 PM

Ectopic pregnancy is very difficult to diagnose because the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are the same as a normal pregnancy. Some of the signs of ectopic pregnancy are vomiting, frequency urinating, missed periods, softness of breast and nausea.

The earlier symptom for ectopic pregnancy is pain in the abdomen and the vaginal region, bleeding in the vagina, internal bleeding such as blood loss in the pelvis, cervix and abdomen. If the ectopic pregnancy starts to build in any tissue then it will result in the irritation of nerves.

The additional symptom of ectopic pregnancy is marking in the vaginal region, fainting, back pain and lower blood pressure. Some of the women do not have any of the above symptoms but they may be pregnant. In the earlier stage of ectopic pregnancy the woman may have a brown or red colored discharge from the vagina as the normal period.

If a woman is pregnant with continuous pain in her abdomen or an unexpected pain in the abdomen, it will result in ectopic pregnancy. The ectopic pregnancy is life threatening if it breaks any of the organs and it will result in internal bleeding of the particular area.

The women may feel very tired and sleepless in most of the days and nights. The heart of a pregnant woman starts to pump as fast as it can and it produces new hormones and also increases the amount of blood. If there is any break or burst in the body due to ectopic pregnancy, it is very difficult to cure.

Some of the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are decreased in red blood cell and increased white blood cells, pain in breasts, softness of fallopian tube an the region of ovary and bleeding in the uterus.

Diagnosing Ectopic Pregnancy

The symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are the same as a normal pregnancy hence it is very difficult to diagnose in the early stage. With the help of advanced medical technology it becomes easier to detect.

If a woman has common signs such as vomiting, absence of bleeding then she is given for the pregnancy test. When the result is positive an additional tests are taken for verifying weather it is an ectopic pregnancy.

HCG is nothing but the hormone produced by the placenta and it is present in the blood cells. The amount of HCG is measured because the HCG is doubled for every 48 hours for normal pregnancy during the first two month and if this function is failed then it is symptom of ectopic pregnancy.

Another test is to check the measurement of progesterone hormones in the blood because these hormones rise in the blood for normal pregnancy and if this fails, it is understood as ectopic pregnancy. The other test for diagnosing ectopic pregnancy is laparoscopy, pelvis and ultrasound examination.
