Thirteen Months of Age

Should - Pull up to a standing position. Get into sitting position. Cruise the furniture. Clap. Indicate needs in ways other than crying. 

Could - Put an object into a container. Imitate acitivities. Stand alone. Use 1 recognizable word beyond mama and dada.

May - Drink from a cup. Use 2 recognizable words. Scribble. Walk well. Use utensil somewhat. Point to one body part when prompted. 

Fourteen Months of Age

Should - Wave bye-bye. Stand alone. Put an object in container. 

Could - Bend over and pick up object. Walk well. 

May - Use six words or more. Walk up steps. Run. Follow a 2 step verbal command without supporting gestures. 

Fifteen Months of Age

Should - Walk well. Bend over and pick up an object. 

Could - Drink from a cup. Scribble. Point to wanted objects. 

May - Feed a doll. Run. Start kicking a ball if trained well. Hit a ball off a tee. 

Sixteen Months of Age

Should - Imitate activities. Scribble. Walk well.

Could - Use 3 words. Dump an object in imitation. 

May - Use 6 words. Kick a ball forward. Brush teeth, with help. Throw a ball overhand. Run. Dribble and kick a ball if trained. 

Seventeen Months of Age

Should - Use two words and drink from a cup. 

Could - Build a tower of 2 cubes. 

May - Walk up steps by 16 1/2 months. Remove an article of clothing. Feed a doll. Build a tower of 4 cubes. Identify two items in a picture by pointing. Throw a ball overhand. Kick and dribble a ball. Hit another ball with a bat, racquet, or stick. Speak and be understood at times.

Eighteen Months of Age

Should - Be able to use 3 words. Point to a desired object. 

Could - Run. Use a fork and spoon but not in a fully functional way. 

May - Kick a ball forward and dribble (if trained). Follow a 2 step command without gestures. Use 50 plus words. Hit a ball with another object. 

Nineteen Months of Age

Should - Perform all previous should's. 

Could - Feed a doll. Use 6 words. Identify 2 pictures. 

May - Build a tower of 4 cubes. Name 6 body parts (by 18 1/2 months). Wash and dry hands. 

Twentieth Month of Age

Should - Run. Dump an object in imitation. Use a spoon/fork, but not exclusively. 

May - Combine words. Throw a ball overhand. Name 6 body parts. Use 50 plus words. Kick and dribble a ball. Hit stationary ball with another object. May begin to hit or kick slow moving objects. Brush teeth. Put on an article of clothing. 

Twenty-First Month of Age

Could - Kick ball forward. Identify 2 pictures by pointing. Remove an article of clothing. 

May - Brush teeth. Put on object of clothing. Kick and dribble a ball. Hit slowly moving object. 

Twenty-Second Month of Age

Should - Use 6 words. Walk up steps.

Could - Build a tower with 4 cubes. Follow a two step command.

May - Jump up. Hit or throw objects with feet or hands. 

Twenty-Third Month of Age

Should - Kick a small ball forward. Run. 

Could - Combine words. Identify six body parts by naming them. Use 50 plus words. 

Twenty-Fourth Month of Age 

Should - Take off an article of clothing. Feed a doll. Build a tower of 4 cubes. 

Could - Build a tower of 6 cubes. Throw a ball overhand. Speak and be understood half the time. 

May - Jump up. Put on an article of clothing. Carry on a conversation of 2 or 3 sentences. Throw and kick a ball. Hit an incoming ball moving slowly.
