BlackBerry Curve

BlackBerry CurveIf you read my post on the BlackBerry Bold (located here), you know I recently had to go through the process of purchasing a new cell phone.  During that process I looked at several cell phones and their features before settling on one which worked for me.  Since I did all the research I figured I may as well write about it, so here is what I found on the BlackBerry Curve.

When the BlackBerry Curve came out in June of 2007 and started a small revolution. This was a step away from selling strictly into business or work uses. Let’s take a quick review of the blackberry curve and see what it has to offer. As the BlackBerry Curve has hit the market, it certainly has fans. This particular model from Research in Motion has been popular enough to spread out to five other models of blackberry curve; the 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, and 8350i. The first model, the 8300, does not have Wi-Fi or built in GPS but the 8320 and the 8350i do. The 8330 is rated to have the highest talk time of the blackberry curve models at 260 minutes. All of the other curves will have a four hour talk time. The 8350i has the highest amount of flash memory of the bunch with 128 megabytes and is expandable with a microSD card. Any of the blackberry curve models can use a microSD card but with some curves the card is located under the battery inside the phone.

The BlackBerry Curve does have video recording for the 8330 and the 8350i models. The screen is very nice with no more of those “blackberry blues” that you use to have with a inferior screen. There are some problems with the trackball “over-scrolling” during use on the web browser. The camera is no big surprise. The blackberry curve takes adequate pictures with a two megapixel camera as do many other phones.

A nice feature that your BlackBerry Curve will have is the ability to connect to your computer. You can transfer photos, ringtones, music and so forth. You will need a microSD card , data cable, and the special blackberry software that will install on your computer. If you want you can also use bluetooth to transfer files to other phones or to your BlackBerry Curve. If you try this option you will likely have a problem getting your BlackBerry Curve to operate the first few times.

More than anything, a BlackBerry Curve is meant for email. This is the strong point of all BlackBerry models. The quality of workmanship is also a positive feature of a curve. Using the keypad of your curve is also an easy task and will help to promote the ease of sending text messages. The popularity of the Curve is skyrocketing so if you have ever thought about getting a BlackBerry Curve, do not wait.
