Businesses Of All Sizes Are Wrong To Not Embrace Blogging

Blogs have come a long way in the online world over the past five years. What started out as a very quick and easy way to set up a website that is easy to update regularly has turned into a worldwide phenomenon where it seems like almost everyone either has their own blog or writes for another blog. Blogs have also begun to be widely adapted for and used in the business world. They are thought of more and more in terms of being a great way to communicate with customers and get information out about the company. There are still many corporations and business people who believe that a blog is not the right thing for their particular situation. The main argument that many established businesses have against blogs in general, and blogs run by individual employees in particular, is that they are unprofessional.

While there are probably a great many examples of online situations out there where people run unprofessional blogs, for the most part these are personal in nature and not meant for business use. Blogging for business is a serious business and those that do this correctly know that better than anyone else. By running a company blog, there is continually updated web content that can serve as a great way to communicate with the customers that a business already has. These customers can check the company blog, either on their own or due to being prompted, and find out news related to a past purchase they had made, a new release of a product or service that is coming shortly, or any specials that are going on at the moment.

Corporate blogging is also a great way to get in touch with those that may be customers of the business in the future. By including helpful hints, tips, and tricks related to the company product or service, people looking for help in that area may stumble upon the information while running an internet search. By presenting useful information related to the industry that the company is in, the blog could in fact attract people to the website who may become customers in the future. These are people that might otherwise never have come in contact with the company at all, and would’ve sent their business elsewhere.

While the concern about how an unprofessional blog would negatively reflect on a company is valid, the benefit that a professionally run blog brings to a company is immense. Running a professional blog is relatively easy too. It can be set up as a company wide blog with a different employee or department head responsible for updating it on each different day, or it can be set up as an individual department or employee blog where one person is responsible for the content that is displayed on it.

A blog related to company news, products and industry news can help not just major corporations, but also help small businesses as well. Anything that takes so relatively little amount of time to maintain and run, but can have such a huge benefit to a business is definitely something that should be pursued by a business of any size.
