Before anything positive can be accomplished by a website, there has to be a certain amount of traffic going to it. Though not the only way to get traffic, one of the best ways to get traffic to a website is by promoting it in different venues and in different ways. Anyone who owns or operates their own website or blog knows just how much work there is when it comes to promoting it. At times, the time consuming nature of website promotion can take away from any enjoyment that the website building and maintaining process is bringing the owner.
There is one great way to promote a website that has the potential to have both huge results and ongoing benefits long after the original promotion is done. That method involves harnessing the power of YouTube. Google’s YouTube is a great way that people, organizations, and even businesses have used for a number of years to post videos for everyone to see. The posting process is fairly simple and YouTube is one of the most popular websites on the entire internet.
How can you use YouTube to promote your website or blog?
Every website either does have, or should have, an established subject that it covers. The first step in using YouTube to promote your website or blog is to shoot a video. The video can be humorous and tell a story or show some wacky or zany antics. The video can also be instructional and give information that people looking to learn something can benefit from. The video can also be interesting in that it is something seldom seen or can give an inside look at a company, a site, or a process. The video can even be done in the form of a tutorial that is nothing more than streaming screenshots from a computer. The key is that the video needs to be something that some people will find either entertaining or useful.
Now that the video is made, it needs to be altered so that the many viewers that will watch it will associate it with your website. Most video production software comes with the ability to add a watermark. A watermark is usually either text or a graphic that sits on the image, usually in the lower center or right corner, and gives credit to who made the video. By placing either your website’s logo or just the URL in text form on the video, everyone watching the video will know who is responsible for it. They will also know where to go to learn either further information or related information to what they have just seen in the video.
With a well produced and planned out video being submitted to YouTube, and with your website’s name prominently displayed on it, it is bound to generate a good amount of traffic. The bonus to this traffic is that it is all people who are not only interested in your site’s content, but they also already have proven themselves somewhat receptive to the type of information that you provide. This is because they’ve already viewed your product and liked it enough to go to your site.
Using YouTube to promote your website is a smart strategy in terms of website marketing. They have cornered the market and become the place to go for videos online. YouTube is one of the most popular websites on the entire internet and mastering this way of capitalizing on their success is a great way to use their popularity to the benefit of your website.

I have seen traffic from YouTube. I have a video for this site which I linked to in the post.
If you look at some of the videos that go viral, you can get a ton of traffic.
