There have been a couple of recent posts at Entrecard which extol the traffic numbers generated through the entrecard widget. I couldn’t help but get out my trusty calculator to do a minute or two of additional analysis. What I found made me wonder.
Are their own numbers deceiving the members and advertisers of Entrecard?
The first numbers I saw were in a post at the Entrecard forum by Jawsome (Head Moderator). He states the following.
I think the number on the main page are wrong. Here is some readings from the admin side:
24,696 Non-deleted blogs with either a widget running or a credit balance above 0
26,749 (+75) Widgets detected by scanner
25,629 (+49) Blogs currently marked active
Once touted as the ad network by bloggers for bloggers Entrecard has built a membership base including around 30,000 members. Up until today I was one of them with my blog typically ranking in the top five or ten most popular blogs within the network.
Not any more as Entrecard has sold out its members.
Entrecard has announced it will be taking control of member widgets in order to sell run of the network advertising impressions to non-member businesses in an effort to monetize the network of blogs.
I was shocked when I first read this. It was impudent. Where has the network just for bloggers gone? Full Story »
Well I have actually had a Twitter account for quite a while. I originally signed up just to get in there and see what all the fuss was about. That was a long time ago, but over the past few weeks I have been building followers and having some fun with it.
Twitter can be a exciting place to meet and network with a variety of interesting people. When I first signed up for the account I thought that I just did not have time for it. Now that I am getting active with it I can see it really does not take that much of an investment of time.
So if you were like me and thought that you just did not have time for it, give it a try. You may find, like I have, that Twitter is a nice community.
Click on the link to follow me on Twitter. I will be sure to return the favor.
Believe it or not the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by the federal government is actually good news for the stock and housing markets. It is bad news for Treasury bonds. It also increases the chance that your taxes are going to go up in the future.
This is a good time to start to get into the market again. Keep putting away money into a variety of funds just a little bit at a time but do it often.
And don’t put it all in one place. That is the quickest way to lose it.
Don’t listen to the talking heads on t.v. Stick to your plan if you really want to make money. Full Story »
You just have to love the movie Forrest Gump. Well at least I do so I thought I would delve into what I know to be the truth behind what Forrest was trying to say.
Sure he built an empire of shrimp, ran for 3 years, 2 months, 14 days and 16 hours, won the Congressional Medal of Honor and became the world champion of ping pong, but in his free time Forrest Gump imparted his wisdom to all of us.
What? You didn’t hear it. Well maybe you just were not listening. Here is what Forrest really meant. Full Story »
All right faithful readers this one is not for the faint of heart. You should only watch this if you’re ready to see something very strange indeed.
I really like watching Criss Angel and a friend of mine recently pointed out this video. When I saw it all I could really think was oh my god, they killed her!
Just like anyone else, when I see things like this the first thing I wonder is how did he do that. Even when knowing would spoil the whole effect on me.
I was once involved in a trick with David Copperfield that you can read a little more about in this article, but this video is just unreal. I have watched it over and over again and just cannot figure out the trick.
The Mind Freak just completely freaked me out on this one.
With gas prices hovering around $4 per gallon here I was naturally curious when I saw a tiny car driving down the street a few days ago. It looks like the car you see Inspector Clouseau (played by Steve Martin) driving around in the 2006 film version of the Pink Panther.
So today I have been doing a little research on the car and found that amazingly enough that this little car achieved the highest ratings from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.
That led me to do some additional searching where I found this amazing video of a crash test with the car. See what happens when the Smart Car hits a concrete barrier at 70 MPH.
That is just amazing footage and by the way, these Smart Cars are supposed to get around 40 MPG.
Well I am going to kick off a new category here in the blog with an interesting little trick my wife showed me the other day. I am not sure where she found it but it is pretty cool and we will get to that in just a minute.
The reason I am starting up this new category is to allow for the blog to get just a little more personality. I am going to use this category to post about things that are a little more personal to me. It may be something I just find interesting or odd or just cool like todays post.
Anyway it will allow for you the readers to see a little of me here on the site and for me to get to know the readers here just a little better.
So on to the trick and I have no idea how it works, but it does. Though I am told that it will only work for this year of 2008. Full Story »
