Creating a Virtual Office With Google

googleOne of the great things about Google is that it has so many tools you can make a virtual office. Many gadgets that are now available through iGoogle make it easy and cheap to create a virtual office no matter what business you work in.

The first thing every office needs is a telephone. Here is a telephone gadget you can add to your iGoogle page that claims free phone calling service. There is a problem, though, as the phone calls only last 10 seconds. You have to register with them and give them a credit card if you want to use the full service. Telephone service over the Internet is also not the highest quality, but if you really want to have a virtual office and the telephone on your computer, this is a good way to do it.

The fax machine is a very common thing used in business, so we’re going to want to stock up our virtual office with fax service. There are many services available through gadgets on iGoogle. I have found this fax service to be the easiest and it is also free.

Text messaging is also very popular way of contacting acquaintances both personal and business. This text service will allow you to send and receive messages to any cell phone worldwide. Just type in the number and your message and hit send. There are a lot of different SMS gadgets on iGoogle.

Whether you are in real estate, are an artist, accountant or writer you can find tools on iGoogle that will help you get the job done. Do a search on the gadgets page to find tools that you can use especially for your profession.

Now that you’ve gone through the iGoogle gadgets and found the tools to help you do research for your business as well as productivity tools to help you make the most of the day. You are going to need a web presence. Google has that taken care of by running Blogger.com. You will need to have an account with Google in order to start a blog on Blogger.com. Blogs are now becoming acceptable replacements for web pages in consumers’ eyes. In fact having a blog for your business gives the appearance that your business is very contemporary and can give good products and services that deal with the issues of the day.

When you start a blog on Blogger.com, your blog’s web address will be *.blogspot.com. (* - is the name of your choosing) it was widely accepted that having a blogspot.com domain name would give the appearance of not being professional. However because blog’s has become so popular and many people have created extremely professional blog’s with a blogspot.com, this line of thinking is disappearing.

One of the great things about having your web page as a blog with Blogger is that the service is free. You can also manipulate the layout very easily.

This is just more evidence we are moving towards a Google world. Pretty soon we won’t be able to function without Google!

Absolutely right Tony! It is not necessarily a good thing either. I can see the government coming in and breaking them up eventually to level the playing field a bit.
