We had been receiving a lot of notices lately from The Denver Zoo. Being members there we get frequent notifications on the latest news and events.  Lately a few of those updates have caught the eye of out daughter and we decided to make a day trip to The Denver Zoo to see just what has been going on. Plus, I can take on a new topic to blog about. What is better than a Zoo Review?
The Denver Zoo was established in 1896 when a small orphaned black bear called Billy Bryant became the first official resident.Â
Today the Denver Zoo covers over 80 acres of land in the heart of Denver and is home to over 4,000 animals spanning over 700 different species. 144 of those species are considered endangered in the wild and 3 of them are extinct in the wild. All that is just part of what makes The Denver Zoo a special place which attracts over 1.6 million visitors annually.
The Denver Zoo is always bringing in new attractions and organizing fun events. We will typically visit somewhere around 3 times a year. This time there were a few things that piqued our interest and got us setting aside some time to make the trip.
Last month there was the announcement of the arrival of Nick. An orphaned California Sea Lion pup that made his way here when only one year old.  He was my favorite of the three I am going to mention here.Â
He is full of energy, swimming all over the place and seemingly trying to splash water at the crowd that gathered to watch. He has to be loving it here to as he is the only male sea lion in the zoo. Check him out.
The three new Snow Leopard Cubs were the ones my wife was really looking forward to seeing. Unfortunately they were curled up sleeping back in the exhibit both times we dropped by, so all we got to see was the video.
Â
My daughters favorite Timber was bounding around the pen on wobbley legs. At only eleven days old her parents seemed to be keeping a close eye on her.
Â
All in all we had a great time. If you get to the area, The Denver Zoo is one of the places that should be on your list of places to visit.Â
