Every blogger would like to have the kind of blog that ranks right up there with the most visited blogs on the internet. The most popular blogs around are the kind that are discussed by other bloggers and held up as examples to emulate or admire. To be included with those though, a blog has to have the kind of high quality posts that readers flock to, comment on, and share with their friends and co-workers. Writing these type of posts is not easy, most bloggers try and try and never reach the level of writing that they are aiming for. There are steps that can be taken though to make any blog post better. Better blog posts will be read more and referred to more often by other bloggers. This can only be benefical to both the blogger and their blog.
#1 - Stop Saving The Best Material
Many bloggers always have plans for another blog or online project in the back of their mind. Often they have an idea for a blog post, or even a completed blog post, that they are saving for that next online business venture. A blogger seeking to have a reputable blog with a decent amount of authority should stop saving their best material for projects that may never materialize. Adding this high quality content to their existing blog or blogs is a great way to improve the quality of the blog they are running right now.
#2 - Learn From History
The struggle to come up with new subjects to write about is one of the toughest part about being a blogger. This struggle can lead some people to neglect their blog, or even give it up all together. There is an almost endless supply, or reminder in this case, of ideas to blog about right at the fingertips of most bloggers. A simple look at the traffic stats of a blog will point to which blog posts receive the most traffic. The posts receiving the most traffic are obviously the posts written in the past that have been the most attractive to the readers of the blog. A great way to capitalize on the popular posts of the past is to write new posts that are not identical to them, but are about the same subject matter.
#3 - Make Parts Of Your Posts Stand Out
In today’s age, it is rare that someone will chance upon a blog that they have never been to before and read the entire post that appears there. There are a number of ways to make certain aspects of a blog post stand out and gain attention. Setting apart an important section of the post in a blockquote attracts the eye to it like nothing else. Bolding the text that makes up the section headings or the items in a list is another way to get the eye of the reader brought to the most important part of the post. Though it shouldn’t be overused, bolding text is a great way to lead the eye to where you want it to be and can also be used to make a key sentence in the middle of a paragraph stand out.
#4 - Give The Headline the Attention It Deserves
Other than the quality of the content as a whole, nothing will affect how well a blog post performs like the title. The text of the title usually ends up as part of the URL of the post itself and also is the first thing that someone viewing the post will read. The impact it makes on the reader will often make them decide if it is a post worth reading or not. The headline has to be attractive, eye catching, and at the same time give a hint to the subject matter that will be covered in the post. Writing the perfect headline is not something that should be approached in a reckless manner, it should be crafted well and given the attention it deserves.
#5 - Dress Up The Blog Post, Make It Fancy
A blogger hoping to have their blog post looked at as high quality and engaging needs to dress it up so it will be received well. Dressing up a blog post can mean a couple of different things. Separating paragraphs so that they are easy to read is one way to accomplish this, but adding photos, thumbnails, graphs, videos, and other images is an even better way. For a blog post to be of high quality it can’t just be written well, it must also look like it is high quality too.
And as a bonus, here is tip number six on how to improve the quality of a blogger’s blog posts.
#6 - Over Deliver On Content
The headline informs the reader of what they can expect to come in the blog post. To really “Wow” the reader though, it is important to over deliver on the content. There are blog posts that list the blogger’s top five favorite rock bands, but why not list the top twenty-five? There are blog posts that detail the life expectancy of a chihuahua, why not also cover other aspects of the dog breed? There are even blog posts that comment on current events, why not co-write the post so that it brings in more than one opinion? Lure the reader in with the headline and then knock their socks off with information or opportunities that they weren’t expecting.
Crafting a great blog post means more than just typing the text as it flows from the mind. Deciding on the content of the post should be a matter of knowing what the readers of the blog have liked written before and taking a new slant on it. This could include the blogger using a great idea they have had for quite sometime, but been saving for a special time, that time may be right now.
Once the content is decided upon and written out it should be gone over until the point that it is perfect, or as close to perfect as the blogger can get it. It then needs to be formatted in a way that will make it attractive to the eye and that may mean adding images of some sort. Once it looks right, it needs to have a headline that will catch the eye of the reader and also describe what the post is about.
When all these things are combined with the writing ability and creativity of the blogger, the blog post that is created has a chance at being one of the best blog posts that the blogger has ever produced.

Saving the best material is definitely not the way to go because people will get there before you. On the web it is always about who does it first ….
