GoDaddy or GoDuddy? Go with Host Gator!

I have been a long time user of GoDaddy hosting services up to about a week ago.  The reason I started using them for hosting was primarily because I held my domains there.

What caused me to leave GoDuddy after so long and leave 8 months of prepaid hosting on the table?  Believe me, it was not one simple thing.

When I used GoDuddy,  I had issues with load speed.  All right, the hosting was slooooowwwww.  There were problems with un-announced changes on their servers causing conflicts with the site.  There was no cPanel and the real irritating thing was when I called them no matter the issue they always blamed it on the script.  Even though the script had been working just fine for months and nothing had been changed with it when the issues occurred.

For example the last issue I had with them was with load speed.  I called them and received the standard response.  Our servers are fine, it is your script they said.  It was the same response one too many times so I changed to Host Gator and immediately noticed the site loaded substantially faster.

There were no script changes, in fact nothing changed other than the hosting service.  If it was as GoDuddy said and caused by the script, changing hosts would have had no effect.

With GoDuddy there always seemed to be something going on with the hosting.  Just when you got comfortable they would hit you again.

Why did I choose Host Gator?  Well it came highly recommended so I checked into it.  I checked the load speed of several sites I knew to be hosted there.  I also checked into the features they offered.

All their plans come with cPanel, AWstats, green power from wind turbines, unlimited storage and bandwidth (I use plenty).  Oh and best of all, they will migrate your site for free.  Many more of the standard and non-standard features you can read about at the Host Gator site.

Since the switch I made I have been getting used to the cPanel, which I love and all the added features offered there.  It is one of those things that you look back on and say why didn’t I do this a long time ago.

Well I guess the main thing is I finally made the move and I am very pleased with it.  If you’re having hosting issues like I did or just looking for a great host for a new site, take a long look at Host Gator.  Their hosting packages are tough to beat.

Since you mentioned godaddy, I’ll also provide several recent findings for Godaddy coupon codes. I am a 3ds Max Producer, and these godaddy coupons come in very handy when purchasing or renewing a domain. Use Godaddy promo code ZINE3 for $7.49 .com domains and renewals. I save about $20 every time I purchase a bunch of domains. When I buy at least five domains, I also get free private registration when I use ZINE3. For other Godaddy coupons, use ZINE1 for 10% off, ZINE2 for $5 off any $30+ purchase, and ZINE25 for $25 off any purchase of $100 or greater, like hosting plans. These promo codes are current, working, and do not expire. Hopefully these Godaddy promo codes save as much dough for the other viewers as they have for my co-workers and I. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the coupon codes Joyce. I still keep all my domains at GoDaddy but would not recommend hosting a site there.

    Good afternoon,

I’m sorry to hear about these issues. I realize you have moved hosts; however, we really would like to discuss this. One of our hosting specialists will be in touch with you to learn more. Thank you.

    Sincerely,

Thank you Alicia I did receive a call, but I am very sick today and am only taking urgent calls. People don’t want me coughing in their ears and I am just wiped out. I received an email shortly afterwards which I did respond to and explained again the problems I had.

Godday’s service sucks. They confused me with their weird titles for their offers. In the end,I end up paying for 2 hosting account when I only need one.How stupid I am?Yes,I’m a stupid A$$HOLE to sign up for Godaddy. There won’t be any step-by-step tips to guide newbies and in the end you’ll end up paying for B.S. service. After this I’m planning to change.

DOMAINS $6.99 All the time at 1and1.com

I’m amazed by the difference in prices and services you can find among hosting companies. Though some of my clients require a higher end list of technical services, I’ve found that either 1and1.com or Bluehost.com are the cheapest, highest quality customer service, and offer the broadest ranges of server options. Managed servers are wonderful there.

But why pay more for domain names? Sometimes 1and1.com has specials, knocking the prices of domains in half. Gotta recommend their hosting, too, for those webmasters who are more comfortable with advanced tasks. But for the beginner, their customer service is available 24-7 by TELEPHONE (holy moly), but you’ll definitely get a non-English accent. http://www.BlueHost.com has ALL AMERICAN customer service (not famed out) and has spectacular pricing, too.

BTW - I’m a http://www.1and1.com affiliate, but I will NOT post my afflilate link here out of respect for the information changing hands here. I’m not telling you this for the money ($$$), but for the WONDERFUL FEELING you get when hosting, domain management, and domain name purchasing is just too easy.

Check out BlueHost and 1and1! :)

Sorry Alicia, but I’m the one to finally convince Bruce to finally move hosts.

After working on his site, and dealing with the joke of what you refer to as ‘Technical Support’, As a developer even I couldn’t take it anymore.

Way to go Bruce! Glad you finally found the light!

Side Note: When the actual owner of a hosting company such as HostGator calls you personally, and even gives you his personal cell phone number, in case of any conflict and/or outages, THAT’S when you know it’s time to go with that hosting company.

Great info. I think the main problem for most people is budgeting. It’s always about what you can afford.
