Step by Step Guide To Fail At Blogging

There are many ways in which blogs are becoming extremely successful and a great way to make money online. However, there are even more ways in which blogs are adding to the list of websites that have failed to make any money or attract any users. Here are the steps that will lead to a failed blog.

1. Irregular Posts

In any blog, users tend to like regular posts to keep them interested and coming back from more. How often you make posts is up to you. You might make posts once a day or five times a day, but whatever you choose try to stick to it. If you make posts five times a day for a week, and then disappear for two weeks, and appear again with a post a day your readers are simply going to lose interest in your blog.

2. Lack of original content

A few blog owners think that they can make money simply by stealing posts and ideas from other blogs. Whilst we all need inspiration from other sources, directly stealing posts is definitely not a good idea, and hastily re-written, unoriginal content will not help you go far with your blog. Instead, take the time to work on original content to give your readers a reason to come back for more.

3. Write for Search Engines and Other Social Media Sites

Whilst you can get a lot of readers from social media sites or search engines, you should be careful not to write just with these users in mind. The chances are that once you start you will see a definite drop in the quality of your posts, and therefore the success of your blog will be negatively affected. Instead keep writing about what you are passionate about and this will show through in the quality of your posts.

4. No Marketing

Not every blog needs to be marketed heavily, but marketing can include simply posting on relevant blog posts in other blogs and leaving a link to yours. If you have a business blog you will probably need to spend more time and effort marketing the blog. Your blog is likely to fail if you are unwilling to put in the effort to market your blog. It only takes a few hours a day or even a week to get the word out about your blog and build up a readership for yourself.

5. Do what everyone else is doing

If you want your blog to fail then the best way is simply to do what everyone else is doing. You might see someone making money from their ‘how to make money online‘ blog and copy what they are doing, their methods and their content. The chances are your blog will be boring, and users won’t be interested in the information you are offering since they can find it in a million other places. By all means start a ‘make money online’ blog yourself, but give in at edge that your competitors don’t offer. You can also get great layouts and logos for your blog that will make it stand out from the crowd. If you do not work on creating something different then your blog is almost guaranteed to fail.

These are some of the most common ways by which people continue to fail at blogging. Blogging is all about interaction, fresh content and updates. If you cannot provide these well then your blog will not be a blog worth visiting.

    Great list.

The only thing I’d add is something I’m watching a client of mine do - she never, ever, ever links out. Not only does she never link to another blog - she also NEVER comments on other related blogs. Everyone is a “competitor” in her mind and as a result - her blog is definitely having trouble finding an audiencE!

Kathy, I definitely agree with your addition. This is a big nono if you expect to grow your blog. I find anytime I point my readers out to other blogs, my traffic goes up from back links, or returned mention as a result days or weeks later. Without those critical links and connections to the blogging network, you will definitely struggle to generate the traffic you might get otherwise.

This is a great post, very relevant! I’m now understanding what you’re saying, just got it this week, only been actually blogging seriously for a week now!

    Hello!

This really is a great post. I really like it. I think that all those steps are very important, and if you miss only one, you’ll most likely fail.
