With gas prices hovering around $4 per gallon here I was naturally curious when I saw a tiny car driving down the street a few days ago. It looks like the car you see Inspector Clouseau (played by Steve Martin) driving around in the 2006 film version of the Pink Panther.
So today I have been doing a little research on the car and found that amazingly enough that this little car achieved the highest ratings from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.
That led me to do some additional searching where I found this amazing video of a crash test with the car. See what happens when the Smart Car hits a concrete barrier at 70 MPH.
That is just amazing footage and by the way, these Smart Cars are supposed to get around 40 MPG.

Now, that was a pretty cool video. I wouldn’t want to be in either of those cars hitting the concrete barrier at 70 MPH. It would have even been better if they had dummies in place, I am pretty sure it would be messy.

I so want to drive on of these, looks like a lot of fun, in Europe they had towers with these in them. I think they had to use a lift in order to get them down but it looked really cool.

No Squeaky I don’t think you would make it if you were in either of them.
Dennis I don’t think the car would work for most people. I know for us, there are three in the family and this is a two seater.
I have not driven one yet Josh, but I may go test drive one just for fun. They cant even keep them in stock here though. There is something like a 9 month wait list.
