Twilight Movie

TwilightMy daughter first told us about Twilight when she came home from school one day and asked us if she could read it.  By the time this movie hit the theater, my wife and daughter had read the first Twilight book, but I had not started yet.

The backdrop for Twilight is the Pacific Northwest, because the overcast conditions offer a nice haven for vampires to go less noticed.  Not to mention, it creates a beautiful backdrop with the forests, rivers and coastline.  It gives one the feeling of taking a trip to an exciting new destination, without having to actually travel there.

The casting for the characters was completed with perfection.  Their character portrayals, expressiveness and emotions combined with the stories of Edward, Bella and the rest provided a depth to the movie that left all of us wanting to see it again.

Robert Pattinson gives a brilliant performance as Edward, conveying the inner conflict which rages and bringing it out full force.  At points he can be dangerous and fearsome while at others be gentle and loving.

Kirsten Stuart brings the beautiful Bella right off the page exactly as imagined with all her nuances.

I am typically not a person that likes to watch a movie more than once, but in the case of Twilight we have all seen it more than once and already ordered the movie Twilight on DVD to be delivered on the day it is released.

After seeing the movie we immediately went home to pull out our Kindle and purchase the second New Moon book, third Eclipse book and fourth Breaking Dawn book.  It is like there is a line in our house to take turns reading them as everyone has read them at least twice, which has made us very impatient for the rest of the movies to be released.

The movie and books might have been created with more of a young adult audience in mind but even though I am older I still have been drawn into the characters and the story.

If you have not read the books yet, I encourage you to do so and if you’re more of a movie person, the DVD version of Twilight is set for release.  We pre-ordered it to arrive in our mailbox on release day.  No lines, no muss and no fuss.
