There are several ways to get started on the blog. One of those ways is to sign up at blogga.nu. You simply login in and complete the request form and you’ll soon be up blogging away. This is only one of the many blog websites to get you started on your way to your own blog site.
When looking for a blog set up the system you want to make sure that they offer several different items to get you started. These would be:
- Password protection for your blog page
- Pre-constructed template to create your blog page
- Be able to design your own blog logo with different colors, fonts and images
- Be able to upload your own images to your blog site
- Post to your blog site by e-mail
- Write your own html template for your blog site
- Is there archiving availability
These are just a few of the things that you want to look for in a startup blog site. There are a few free blog sites that offer advertisements in exchange for the free blog site. And you have to decide if it’s worth having advertisements framing your blog or would it be worth it to pay a little more to the advertisement free? Depending on the ads, some of these blog sites only allow you a little bit of blog space while others give you unlimited amount of space.
Another place to get started with a blog is typepad.com which is one of the easiest ways to create a professional looking blog. If you’re a technical savvy you might want to try MoveableType.org, however you will have to find some place to host your blog. A free account can be found at Blogger.com.
The most important thing you need to start a blog is something to say. You can start out with a theme such as dogs in spaying and neutering, computer technology or the war or anything you’re passionate about and see where it leads you. Because a blog as a communication tool and not just a one-way communication tool, you will have people answering you and what you have said.
One of the ways to get people to read your blog is to link to other blogs in space and interesting things about their blogs. People notice when you link to their blogs and then they will follow the link back to your blog and read what you have to say.
Make sure your e-mail address is available on your blog so people can reply to you in private if they wish to do so. Some people are not comfortable with the whole blogging issue and preferred to deal with a blogger a one on one.
