Why Every Blog Should Have a Contact Form

Blogs are becoming more popular both for business and personal use. When creating your blog there are certain features that you should include. One of these features is a contact form, which is a simple addition to your blog but can have many advantages. Perhaps you don’t think that users will really need to contact you, but here are some reasons why you should make it as easy as possible for them to do so.

Blogs usually provide a way for users to communicate over the internet. This comes in the form of blog comments, where users express their opinions on the post and also interact with each other, and the blog owner, in discussion of a particular issue. The main function of blogs has always been this unique element of conversation, and this also extends to the contact form.

You might think that you do not need a contact form since users can contact you through your comment forms in blog posts. However, contact in this way isn’t always appropriate, and it definitely isn’t private. There could be a number of reasons why users might want to contact you personally, and these may have absolutely nothing to do with any blog post.

Contact forms allow users to contact you directly, and privately. There may be many reasons for contacting you ranging from a question about your blog, to requests to purchase advertising. In short, you could lose business by failing to provide a real way in which they can contact you. There may be potential clients for your business, or potential blog subscribers, waiting to contact you so make sure you make it easy.

Why not just an email address? You should not put an email address directly on your blog due to the fact that it is likely to start getting spammed in a very short space of time. There are programs used by spammers that will detect email addresses on websites, making it a bad idea to just ask a user to email you directly. It is possible to include an encrypted version of your email address, safe from hackers, which you should include. However, some users will prefer to use a simple contact form rather than email you directly, so you should include these contact methods in addition to a contact form.

Using a contact form will not eliminate spam completely, but you may be able to find a contact form solution that filters the messages sent through the system. In most cases, you will be much more likely to receive spam through blog comments and an unencrypted email address than you will through a contact form, so there is not too much reason to worry.

It is extremely easy to install a contact form on your blog. It usually involves a simple code, which you can copy and paste, or will involve a plugin that is downloaded and installed in your blogs files. As you can see, spending this little time will provide an extra method for you to drum up business and interact with potential customers. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t make it as easy as possible for users to contact you on your blog.

Unfortunately, spammers will make such a form a nightmare to manage.

I don’t have any problems managing mine Dwacon but I’m sure it varies by site.

I totally agree and adding a contact form is easy for any blog as there are many plugins to do it for you as well.

SPAM is not an issue if you use any decent plugin as it will have captka or some form of spam protection built in.

I know the contact forms on my own blog have been a great addition as I’ve had many personal comments, thank yous from people to shy to say things publicly and new friendships develop from them. Not only that but also opportunities to write elsewhere, advertisers and other great opportunities come through my forms privately. They are a great addition on any blog if you ask me.
